When Community Comes Together, Everyone Thrives: Castlebar’s Bank Holiday Weekend Showcases the Best of Local Spirit and Business.
Castlebar thrived over the May Bank Holiday weekend, as a packed calendar of events drew thousands to the town - generating a major boost for local businesses and showcasing the economic power of community collaboration.
“The energy around Castlebar was incredible,” said Maria Staunton, Vice President of Castlebar Chamber, who led on behalf of the Chamber with the Mini Marathon committee. “It’s clear that when people come together - through sport, culture and community - the whole town benefits. Local businesses felt the impact, and that this kind of momentum is key to our long-term economic growth.”

, culminating on Sunday with the
and Connacht Final, footfall surged across the town.
Our cafés, restaurants, shops, and hospitality venues reported strong trade throughout the weekend, driven by an influx of visitors and a vibrant atmosphere on every street. The atmosphere was electric, and the streets were lined with well- wishers - and busy shopfronts.
All events couldn't have happened without the support of local volunteers, businesses, the Chamber, the Mayo Sports Partnership, the Castlebar Municipal District, and the Gardaí. A special mention to
