Atlantic Technological University (ATU), in partnership with Castlebar Chamber, the Local Enterprise Office Mayo (LEO), iHub, and Data2Sustain, hosted a dynamic and impactful event titled “Super Charge Your Business with AI” on Friday, 11th October 2024. Held at the ATU campus in Castlebar, the event focused on unlocking the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) for businesses in the West of Ireland.
The event started with a warm welcome from Dr. Orla Flynn, President of ATU, who spoke about the importance of innovation and collaboration between academic institutions and the business community to drive growth in the region. Dr. Flynn highlighted the significant role that AI is already playing in transforming industries, and ATU’s commitment to supporting businesses in adopting new technologies to remain competitive on a global scale.
Minister Dara Calleary delivered a compelling keynote address, capturing the audience’s attention with the message that “the AI train has already left the station” and urging businesses to consider whether they are prepared to jump on board. Minister Calleary emphasised the critical nature of embracing AI as a tool for innovation, efficiency, and long-term growth. He challenged business owners and leaders in attendance to ask themselves whether they were prepared to adapt to the rapidly evolving digital landscape, noting that those who do not act soon may be left behind.
The event featured a series of expert presentations and discussions on how AI is revolutionising various sectors, from manufacturing to agriculture and sports. Attendees learned about practical applications of AI that are accessible to businesses of all sizes and how AI-driven tools can streamline operations and improve decision-making,
Throughout the morning, participants also had the opportunity to engage in networking sessions, allowing them to explore AI solutions tailored to their specific business needs.
President of Castlebar Chamber, Anne Conlon, said, “AI is no longer just a buzzword; it’s a practical tool that can transform how businesses operate, from improving customer service to streamlining production processes.
