Castlebar Chamber Holds Public Consultation on Christmas Lights

The Castlebar Chamber of Commerce held a public consultation at the Chamber offices on Monday, 14th October, to discuss this year’s Christmas lights plan. While the turnout was disappointing, with attendance representing only Tucker Street and Linenhall Street, the Chamber remains focused on delivering a festive and engaging holiday experience for the entire town.

Anne Conlon, President, said, ” We are awaiting confirmation of funding under the Community Recognition Fund to enable us to proceed with the much-anticipated installation of the Christmas lights, which will officially be switched on during a ceremony on Friday, November 29th.

Anne announced to the meeting plans for variety of Christmas events designed to boost the local economy and attract shoppers and visitors to Castlebar, including outdoor Christmas movies, Christmas Markets and Christmas Winter land in the Barracks.

The Castlebar Christmas Markets will be held on Bridge Street/Collectors Lane on the weekends of December 6th and 13th. They will showcase local businesses and musical talents. A Christmas Train on the Mall is also proposed for one of the weekends, adding a magical experience for children and families.

Castlebar Chamber is working closely with Castlebar Municipal District to ensure that this year’s Christmas in Castlebar offers a strong, vibrant atmosphere to support local businesses and promote economic growth in the town.

Together, we are committed to making this Christmas memorable, bringing our community together, and encouraging positive trading conditions for Castlebar’s business community.
